Application
All counseling professionals and mental health providers are mandated to register with the BBCC before practicing in the government and private services. All applications for registration are required to be received 10 days prior to the end of the month to be considered by the committee. Late applications will be considered in the next sitting.
Certification with the Board is scheduled twice a year—in January and July – and is also a mandatory process for all practicing counselors and mental health providers.
Process of BBCC Certification
Applicants are required to complete the BBCC Application Formbefore submitting it to the BBCC Director for consideration by the board.
New applicants are requested to familiarize themselves with the eligibility criteria for the requested certification level, and to submit evidence to support their application. If the applicant does not meet all criteria or submit requisite evidence, application approval may be postponed, pending completion of requirements.
The following should be submitted along with the Registration Form.
- Latest security clearance
- Photocopies of academic transcripts (applicants will produce original documents if and when asked for by the board)
- References from supervisors or professional colleagues
- Professional development certificates and/or documents which specify professional experience/education.
- Current curriculum vitae
Once the applicants are registered through completing the BBCC application, the application is reviewed by the committee identified and appointed by the BBCC for this purpose against the certification criteria and the committee will authenticate the academic and professional transcripts and any other credentials of the applicants. In case of any discrepancies in the application, the case is resolved by a unanimous decision of the committee.
Once a decision is reached, certification applicants will be informed about their application status, including any need for follow up documents, by a specific deadline. If they do not meet the deadline, the applicants may apply towards the next convening of the BBCC Certification Review Committee.
